Only a few days after their sold out special appearance at the Hollywood Palladium, The Chainsmokers released a new single in late July 2018. The song is called “Side Effects,” and follows the musical group’s last song “Closer” that hit the charts two years ago.
The band members of the group are Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. Their special show, had Pepsi as a partner and as a sponsor, took place on July 24. The Chainsmokers usually play to larger crowds in big venues. At this event, their CA friends made up a good portion of the crowd, and the band enjoyed the more intimate experience. They do not get a chance to play many live shows in the area. The next scheduled event for the band would take place in Atlantic City. The debut of their new song occurred at that venue on July 28th. They also appeared with musical talent and band collaborator Emily Warren during the Summer Concert.
The Chainsmokers band was formed in 2012, Alex Pall had been a DJ when he was younger. Alex attended New York University. He studied art history and music. Drew Taggart attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. It has been noted that their newest single,”Side Effects,” has a more mature sound to it as compared to their previous sounds. The duo concur that they are writing about observations they make in themselves, in other millennials, in relationships, and in life.
In a recent Billboard interview, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart commented about where they foresee the band’s direction will be over the next several years. The two band members are happy with what they are now doing. The team enjoys writing music, and they are writing and playing music they like. They also enjoy the DJing jobs they get. Alex and Drew love the live shows and the traveling. The duo also likes that Emily Warren is a part of it all. The Chainsmokers want to keep doing what they do best, and that is making music.
The Interview Magazine revealed that Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers is now getting himself more serious into EDM. He wants to change it, revolutionize it and along with his partner Andrew Taggart, he would be creating the kind of music that they themselves would be singing to. And this is just the start.
People also learned from The Interview Magazine that Pall and Taggart of The Chainsmokers are already pushing the boundaries of EDM. Their music are putting more focus on lyrics. While others just want to stick to beats, their music is admirable in its ambition to put better lyrics in them. WIth the success of The Chainsmokers in fantastic singles, such as “Roses”, “Don’t Let Me Down” and collaborations with fellow artists like Halsey, there’s little doubt that there’s still more in the line-up of Pall today.
The good thing in the evolution of the music-writing skills of Pall is the fact that he’s still trying his best to improve the productions that he does during concerts. When others just want to stick to EDM dance beats and tracks that people can dance to, Pall wants to create electronic soundscapes and other masterful tricks to give their listeners the experience that they never had before. It is the passion of Pall to articulate his feelings through his music, and he wouldn’t be able to do this without doing the production style above.
There’s also the admirable foray of the band right now into making a stamp in the history of serious artists who have something to say. EDM is a platform that has not been taken advantage of that much, and Pall seems to see it his duty to make sure that he can maximize the platform to full potential.
People who read the excerpt of the Interview also learned that Pall has a lot of respect for his partner, Taggart. He believes that Taggart has such a fantastic talent for producing DJ and how to market the music to the right kind of people. This means that the combo of Taggart’s talent and songwriting skills of Pall can sustain the kind of dignified, growing and far-reaching potentials of The Chainsmokers.
